A two bedroom beamed barn with en suite bathrooms. Sleep 4/6.
A beautiful 2014 Barn conversion in the Picardy village of Yvrench around 75 minutes from the port of Calais, via the A16 Peage (Leave at junction 24).
The renovated barn is around 200 years in age, situated in a small tranquil village in Picardy. It is accessed up a grassy lane leading from the main village street.and is set in around one acre of picturesque gardens with plenty of car parking space.
Many of the original features e.g. ceiling and wall beams have been retained and a 12 kw wood burner provides a lovely, warm home on cool evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and cooker with hob grill and oven. The table seats eight.
An attractive, ash staircase leads from the kitchen/dining room, up to the 2nd en suite bedroom, the lounge and a large balcony which overlooks fields and woodlands. The lounge has a satellite TV, a DVD player and WiFi.
The barn has digital, electric central heating.
Both of the small bedrooms are equipped with king size beds and have en suite facilities.
A day bed, which can easily sleep two adults, is situated at one end of the lounge.
A cot and high chair are available on request.
The barn and the Farmhouse sleep 15 and can both be rented by the same group. However, to ensure complete privacy the properties are not let to different groups at the same time.
The first WW 1 tanks were brought to Yvrench in September 1916 for trials before their introduction in to the battle of Flers-Courcelette in 1916. A battalion of Royal Fusiliers were based in the village during the Battle of the Somme.
A WW2 V1 rocket launching site can be visited in the nearby wood (Bois Carre) and the battlefields of Crecy, Agincourt and those of the Somme, can all be easily reached from the house.
The beautiful sandy beaches of the Opal coast lie close by, as do many attractive towns and villages. St Riquier, with its Abbey, boasts one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in France. You can also see the house where Napoleon once lived.
The Traverse de Ponthieu is around five minutes from the barn by car. This is a converted disused railway line where people can safely, walk, run or cycle.
The forest of Crecy and the Capability Brown gardens of the Reginiere Ecluce Chateau (free entry) are fifteen minutes away by car.
There are a number of golf courses near the coast.
Amiens Zoo, The Cathedral and canal boat trips are around forty minutes away, as are the seaside towns of Le Touquet, St. Valery sur Somme, Le Crotoy, Fort Mahon and Quend.
The stunning walled town of Montreuil sur Mer, where victor Hugo set much of Les Miserables, is a half hour drive.
Paris is 100 minutes by train from Abbeville station, some 20 minutes from the village.
Free parking at the station.
