15th Century French manor house, sundeck, pool, WiFi in unspoilt rural France
This beautifully restored historic manor house, set in a tranquil, rural location, sits above the meandering waters of the beautiful River Lot with panoramic views across the wooded valley. After 400 years in the hands of the same local family, its new English owners how live on site have sensitively renovated Blanadet to provide visitors with a high standard of comfort in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
With original chestnut beams exposed, the three double bedrooms are all en-suite, with walk-in wardrobes and provide panoramic views over the swimming pool, garden and river Lot below. Each en-suite has a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The kitchen has been completely refitted, and has all the modern equipment you will expect, including a cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and new cooking utensils. Combined with the kitchen, the dining area has plenty of space to cater for all guests. You are also free to use our on site laundry for no extra charge. The lounge/garden-room has built-in seating, with a pretty view into the rear courtyard. This area is the perfect place to relax and read a book or surf the internet with WiFi internet connectivity and UK satellite TV. Outside, there are sunbeds and tables round the pool area (shared with owner from time to time) and a refrigerator for your cold drinks. The artistically landscaped pool and wooden sun decks are surrounded by flowers and trees. The grounds provide both sun and shade, as well as breath taking views across the countryside. They also create the perfect setting for al-fresco summer dinning and barbecues. We are very pleased to see visitors enjoying a stroll round our grounds.
If your interested in walking and wild life we have peaceful footpaths into the wooded valleys that leads directly form the property. The house is situated above the hamlet of Le Port, 5 minutes drive from the village of Vieillevie, 5 miles west of the medieval village of Entraygues in the Aveyron department. This area is the most beautiful stretch of the Lot Valley. Unspoilt by tourism, the region offers the mountains, gorges and valleys of the southern tip of the Cantal and Aveyron departments.
We have miles of designated footpaths, abundant with flowers and wildlife; historic medieval villages such as Conques and Estaing; fine Chateaux and the attractive towns of Rodez and Aurillac. The immediate area is a recognized centre for walking and canoing. Some walks lead direct from the house and Le Port has its own canoe school. In summer Fetes and spectacles are arranged locally, and there are plenty of weekly markets to browse. The gallery at Albi, birth-place of artist Toulouse-Lautrec, and the cave paintings of Pech Merle provide interesting days out. To enjoy these attractions a car is essential.
