Rural Family House with Pool - great for country pursuits
Substantial village house backing onto open fields. Large living room, well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and dryer. Ground floor double ensuite bedroom (ideal for less mobile guests) one double and one twin upstairs, both ensuite. Each double bedroom has an extra, full size, folding bed. All linen and towels provided.
Large rear parking area, very big garden (suitable for games) with above ground 24 foot pool plus separate toddlers pool. An outside covered barbeque area, converted from one of the old barns, provides welcome shade for Al Fresco dining. A small pool/reading/sun room is at the side of the house.
Situated within easy reach of Chalon-sur-Saone, Beaune, Dole, the beautiful Jura area is within easy driving distance. Plentiful fishing, river walks, riding and golf in an area famed for delicious food and fine wines.
There are two large swimming lakes with beaches within half an hour which are both very safe for young children and many lovely restaurants within 20 minutes.
The property is in a tiny village location for a taste of typical rural France.
This property is superb for bird watchers.
There are some 160 species of birds in the Doubs Valley. You can sight bee-eaters and black kites, kestrels and honey buzzards...
The river Doubs rises in the Jura mountains and flows into the river Saône at Verdun-sur-Doubs. As it reaches Burgundy, the lower Doubs as it is known, has broad meanders and wooded banks, limestone cliffs, beds of gravel and little islands. It is nature’s paradise – in the river and its surroundings there are 42 different mammals, 30 species of fish, 160 of birds and 600 of plants. With the migrating birds returning from their winter exile, you could well be in Africa itself; there are many similarities both in the birds and the habitat.
In 1992, the area was granted special protection by Le Patrimoine Naturel de Bourgogne and birdwatchers have recorded sighting nearly 100 species of birds in a couple of days here.
The rivers Doubs and the Soane, are right on the doorstep and a paradise for fishermen. Both rivers are known for Catfish!
We do not normally take bookings of less than 7 nights during the high season. However, if you wish to stay for more than 7 nights please add the nightly rate for high season to your costs.
Please note: The house belongs to an English family and all the plugs for devices, hairdryers etc are English. If you have European plugs, although there are plenty of adaptors, it is advisable to take some more with you for extras.
There is no Internet connection in the house. However, there is Internet in range and we have successfully used Internet by tethering to our phones via personal hotspots for other mobile devices.
"We are really looking forward to going back as we had a lovely holiday there last year"
