Important notes (applying to both schemes)
We have to bring to your attention some of the important features of your travel insurance:
Full Details of Both Schemes: this page only contains a summary of the protection available from our exclusive holiday insurances. A certificate containing full details of cover and exclusions relating to both our schemes is available on request. This certificate will be sent to you automatically on receipt of your premium for either of the schemes on this page. You must read this carefully and also take it on holiday with you.
Conditions and Exclusions: there are conditions and exclusions which apply to individual sections and general conditions and exclusions which apply to the whole certificate.
Health: the certificate contains conditions relating to the health of the people travelling and others upon whose well-being the trip may depend.
Property Claims: these are settled on an indemnity basis - not on a 'new for old' or replacement cost basis.
Certificate Limits: most sections have limits on the amount the insurer will pay under that section. Some also include inner limits, eg: for any one item or for valuables in total.
Certificate Excesses: claims under some sections will be subject to an excess. Where there is an excess, you will be responsible for paying the first part of a claim. The major excesses under this insurance are as follows: Personal Baggage, Money and Documents 35, Medical and other expenses 35, Cancellation and Curtailment 35, Personal Liability 100.
Form E111 is obtainable from the Post Office and entitles you to receive reciprocal EC health arrangements. If used the normal medical insurance excesses will be waived.
Reasonable Care: you are required to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property and exercise the same caution you would without insurance.
Complaints: the insurance certificate includes a Complaints Procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint about the insurance.
'Cooling Off' Period: the certificate contains a 'cooling off' period which allows you to return the certificate within fourteen days of issue and obtain a full refund if you have a justifiable reason to be dissatisfied with the cover provided.
Hazardous Holiday Activities: the certificate may not cover you when you take part in certain hazardous activities eg. scuba diving. If you require cover for such activities you may need to arrange specialist cover.
Claims: all claims should be made direct to Travel and Personal Underwriters Ltd at their address shown on the insurance certificate. If you need to cancel your booking you must advise us immediately so that we can provide you with a cancellation invoice for you to claim from Travel and Personal Underwriters Ltd.
UK law allows the parties to choose the law applicable to the contract. The contract will be subject to English Law unless otherwise agreed.
Date Change Exclusion: changes in dates, may cause widespread failure of computer and other systems containing computer chips, which depend on date-related information in order to work properly. Other than Medical Expenses, Hospital Benefit and Personal Accident your certificate excludes anything directly or indirectly caused by failure of any computer hardware or software or other electrical equipment to recognise or process any date as the true calendar date.
*Insurance can only be purchased in conjunction with ferry travel.
