Nearby are the medieval towns of Parthenay and Niort, whilst Poitiers, La Rochelle and the Loire Valley are all within easy reach.. For parties up to 10 can joined to La Petite Maison. La Chaumiere: Large living area incorporating corner kitchen, two bedrooms, 1 double,1 twin, downstairs is a shower room/WC. Kitchen is fully equipped to a high standard including dishwasher. Separate terraces, overlooking swimming pool, with BBQ and garden furniture. Linen provided. Boulangerie 3km, supermarket 8km. Water park, golf, riding and quiet roads for cycling & walking. Sorry no pets. Our large natural grounds are bounded by two streams providing plenty of space for games, to find a shady corner to sit and relax or even star-gaze at night there being no light pollution. The swimming pool terrace has ample sitting space around it plus sunloungers and chairs to relax on. This area of Deux Sevres is undulating with wooded areas and a number of small lakes, some recreational facilities. It is ideal for bird-watching, cycling or walking if you want to give the car a rest. Nearby at Secondigny is a large lake with water-based activities,pedalloes,a large outdoor pool, play area and restaurant overlooking the lake. At Mazières is an 18 hole, par 72, golf course about 25 minutes away. Tennis, horse riding and numerous forest walks are all within easy reach. For those seeking the sea, La Rochelle and the Vendée coast are about an hour's drive away. Also within easy reach is the Marais Poitevin a maze of waterways and canals reclaimed from the sea which can be explored by punt or small boat hired in some of the small towns.
For Spectacle seekers there s the internationally famous FUTUROSCOPE at Poitiers and the amazing Puy du Fou extravaganza, both about an hour away.
For historians we are well within reach of the historic towns of Bressuire, Niort, Poitiers and Parthenay with it's medieval streets and ramparts. The Loire towns and Chateaux are easily reached from us.

This is rural France, quiet and stress free,but there is also a large number of unusual places to visit and customs to observe, as well as a wide variety of wildlife.
Opened in 2001 at Moncoutant, 12 kms away, is PESCALIS. Europe's largest inland fishing village with 100 hectares(approx. 240acres) of lakes and ponds. Facilities include; hire of equipment,lessons and sale of equipment. No permits necessary, open all year.
