LA PETITE BESSOU is a traditional three bedroomed stone cottage, excellent accommodation for up to six guests. Suitable for both couples and families. Detached & very secluded, with its own full size EXCLUSIVE swimming pool, private access and parking.
Lounge/Dining Room with ‘brossage’ style stone walls, oak beams, and features a stone hearth with a log burning stove for cosy off-season use. The stonewalls help to ensure that La Petite Bessou is cool in summer and warm in the winter. A radio / CD / cassette player and a TV for viewing English channels and a DVD player are provided. Games & books are provided.
WiFi is also now available.
The stylish corner kitchen is incorporated into the lounge area and is very well equipped. A washing machine is also provided. There are French doors, opening directly onto the south facing sun terrace.
The master double bedroom, has stone brossage walls; there is an en suite shower room and WC. Also on the ground floor there is a second shower room, with WC, which is circular in shape and is a delightful conversion of the old prune oven.
The upper floor has been tastefully modernised but still retains the original low oak beams. There is a double bedroom and one twin room with one full size bed and one fold-up bed. All equipment can be provided for babies or toddlers including the cot, cot linen, nappy changing mat, baby bath, high chair and potty!!!
A mature grapevine encircles the secluded sun terrace, well furnished and a very beautiful area for outdoor eating. The EXCLUSIVE swimming pool, which can be floodlit, is 11m x 5 m and has roman steps offering safe access into the water. The first 4m of the pool is 1m in depth allowing safe bathing for toddlers and non-swimmers.
The large private gardens have flower borders around the pool, trees to provide shade for those hot days, space to relax and a large grass area for children to play all games, A number of outdoor games are provided
The region is very beautiful with lakes and rivers, forests and rolling hills, fields of sunflowers and maize, orchards of plum trees and walnuts. The gentle rolling countryside and near empty country lanes, paths, and bridleways offer ideal rambling and cycling conditions. ( Bikes can be hired locally)There is excellent fishing and swimming in the lakes nearby and canoeing on the Dordogne and Lot rivers. Other local activities include golf, Outward Bound Centre, horse riding, tennis, boat trips and birdwatching.
There are markets for everyday of the week and good inexpensive restaurants close by in the Bastide towns of Villeréal and Monflanquin.
Wine lovers will enjoy the easy access of Bergerac, Duras, St. Emillion and Cahors with plenty of opportunity for ‘degustation’!!!
The area is steeped in history with magnificent Chateaux, Bastide towns and painted caves. Further afield, the Pyrenees, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Rocamadour and the Atlantic coast can all be reached in two to three hours.
