Ground Floor Garden Apartment with Stunning Mountain Views and Free WiFi
Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees in a peaceful location on the edge of an unspoiled Catalan village , The Garden Apartment at Villa Maureillas makes an ideal base for a wide range of activities. Mountain walks are on our doorstep, the Costa Brava, Girona and Barcelona are all accessible for a day trip and the Mediterranean coast with its sandy beaches is 20 minutes drive away. Our nearest town is Ceret, which is a few minutes drive and famous for its cherries, modern art museum and its lively markets. Swimming, cycling, horse riding and trekking, water sports, tennis and other attractions including a water park are all accessible within a short distance. There is a lake for fishing, swimming, water sports and other activities and a small restaurant in the next village. There are 2 golf courses within easy reach, one situated on the coast and the other in the mountains. The closest ski resorts are an hour and a half away. For the less active,you can try wine tasting at one of the many vineyards or enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or bar.
The garden apartment will sleep 2 or 3 people in a spacious bed-sitting room. It has a separate bathroom and large kitchen diner, plus its own outdoor patio area with table and chairs for alfresco dining. A charcoal barbeque is also available for use. Guests are welcome to use the large, secluded garden for sunbathing and relaxing. Hammocks and beach chairs are available. There is ample car parking space.
The apartment has a selection of board games and books, an iPod player and a DVD player. Children are welcome and have plenty of room to run around in the large enclosed garden. No smoking is allowed on the premises. Pets are not allowed. The rental price also includes heating if required.
Less than 5 minutes walk away in the village of Maureillas is a butcher, chemist, newsagent, post office, 2 general stores, 2 bakers, 2 bars/restaurants and a cash machine. There is a small market selling local produce in the square every Thursday morning. Banks, supermarkets and a wider selection of shops, restaurants and bars can be found in both Ceret and Le Boulou which are just 5 minutes away by car. Most of the local towns here in France and over the border in Spain have excellent local markets which are well worth a visit.
The Mediterranean coast is a 20 minute drive away. There are long sandy beaches at Argeles, St Cyprien and Le Racou. It is possible to rent a motor boat and take boat and fishing trips from both Argeles and St Cyprien ports. There are many secluded bays to be found by exploring the coast by car which are suitable for sun bathing and picnics. The picturesque towns of Collioure, Port Vendres and Banyls sur Mer are all worth visiting for their shops and restauran
