Charming, rustic and comfortable old Farmhouse in peaceful Auvergne countryside
Charming, Rustic, Traditional - all words used by our visitors to describe our Auvergnate Farmhouse in which we lived happily for ten years changing it from barely habitable to a much loved home. Now we have moved to a newly renovated property across our drive we are letting out our Farmhouse as a holiday home suitable for adults and a baby.
Strictly for non-smokers and with three comfortable bedrooms, the Farmhouse has a modern bathroom, well fitted kitchen and attractive lounge/diner. Two of the bedrooms were part of the original old farmhouse. One is a double room with full size double bed, wardrobes and storage cupboards and beautiful views across our garden and meadow to the Monts de Forez, views which are constantly changing depending on the season.
The second bedroom is smaller and contains a single bed. It has good hanging and storage space. This room was originally used for salting hams and therefore only has a small window.
The third bedroom is completely new, large and airy with views in the direction of Le Monestier. This room has its own washbasin/vanity unit, wardrobe and chest of drawers.You have the option of combining the two single beds to make a very comfortable six foot double bed or of using them separately. Suitable bedding is provided for whichever option you choose.
The bathroom has a bath with shower over, W.C, washbasin and heated towel rail.
All upstairs rooms have normal height ceilings.
Downstairs you are in the original living area which has been partly renovated. The ceiling is low and beamed. There is a large open fireplace with a very efficient wood burning stove, comfortable chairs, settee and a table with seating for six. Books, music centre and games are provided as well as information on the surrounding area. The house has partial central heating from our wood pellet boiler.
The kitchen is slightly higher than the lounge as we have built it over a vaulted cave situated beneath the house. Standing between the beams there is no problem when washing up! It is well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee maker , tea towels and all kitchen equipment required to give you that "home from home" feeling.
The Farmhouse has its own modern laundry room which is shared with the Farm Cottage. This contains a freezer, washing machine and tumble drier as well as ironing and airing facilities.
Outside you have access to our large gardens and also have your own area outside your front door for relaxing or dining. Parking is either on the drive or in the attached garage.
Prices are for four and include all linen and towels, hot water and heating and logs for the fire. Cleaning is done before your arrival and we just ask you to leave everything tidy to make it easier for us after you leave.
Reductions or extra charges apply for fewer or extra guests.
Changeover day is usually Sunday but short breaks and different start days are possible by arrangement.
