La Bastide des Lavandieres is located in the centre of the village of Canaules deep in the Languedoc wine producing region of southern France . Originally constructed in 1850 it has previously been used as a small hotel as well as a café & a night club .
Following extensive renovations & rebuilding during 2007 & the early months of 2008 this wonderfully preserved stone building has now been converted into 7 luxury apartments with private off-road parking & extra large swimming pool. Each apartment can accommodate between 4 & 8 people comfortably aned the have all been designed and furnished to suit family living .
Canaules is a typical French village - small but full of character . It is close to a number of larger villages & small towns as well as numerous vineyards many of which welcome visitors . Our own vineyard is just over 1.5km's away and guests are welcome to come and look around anytime during their stay.
Nearby you will find a selection of excellent restaurants & typically French small bars . Ales which is just a 15 minute drive away has all of the shopping & entertainment options you would find in any large city of it's size . Nimes , Montpellier & Marseilles are just 3 of the cities which are easily reached as well as the beaches on the coast or the skiing in the Cevennes which are both reachable in under an hour . The tourist town of Anduze which is known as "The Gateway to the Cevennes" is just 11km away also . Here you will find a selection of restaurants and small bars to suit all tastes . The Parc National des Cévennes is the only national Park in France where forestry is carried out and it is easily reachable from here . With it's spectacular flora & fauna it is well worth a visit .
The seven large apartments in La Bastide des Lavandieres have been completed & furnished to a very high standard with all the facilities & amenities you would expect to find in any top class accomodation including en-suite bedrooms , large living & dining space & spacious balconies or terraces . All apartments have UK satellite tv channels & radio stations as well as terrestrial French TV , & DVD players. There is also a selection of books , cd's & dvd's in each apartment. Access to building is controlled by an intercom system with buzzer release for front door in each apartment .
It is our aim that guests who stay with us will go home with the desire to return time & time again . To achieve this aim we know that the accommodation we provide needs to be very good.
