Our First floor apartment with balcony is ideal for a couple wanting a quiet base in the heart of Burgundy from which to explore the hidden treasures of the region. The apartment is located in Marrault a small village known for its 2 lakes and its association with Louis Pasteur. Set in an acre of newly established gardens (the owners are members of the RHS and the Yonne Horticultural Society) our self-contained; purpose built and thoughtfully equipped studio apartment with its outstanding panoramic views awaits you.
It has 30 sq. metres of living space, a shower room and toilet, plus an independent galley kitchen,which provides a multi function oven, hotplates and a fridge with a freezer compartment; A satellite television with multiple channels in English and French languages, electric heating and a wood burning stove are to be found in the apartment as well as easy chairs, dining suite and a luxury double bed.
Take time to investigate the countryside of the Morvan National Park on foot, by car or cycle/mountain bike.The newly opened Morvan Mountain biking Trail passes the bottom of the garden. The area of the Morvan is heavily wooded with streams and rivers running into its many lakes, each of which is designated for a recreational activity. Attractions include canoe/kayak (the European championships were held nearby), a tree climbing activity centre (try the black route!), lake or pool swimming and several horse trekking centres. The Morvan is noted for its wildlife and the garden is regularly visited by a wide range of birds.There are many fine chateau and fortified villages to be viewed each telling their own story,notably Montreal and Noyers;Art galleries abound and there are numerous concerts to be experienced;Dijon is well worth a visit. If you seek a gastronomic evening try one of the many fine restaurants nearby including 3 Michelin starred,where you can taste fine wines and enjoy the wonderful foods of this region. The famous Burgundy vineyards of Beaune and Chablis can be visited and the World heritage site of Vezelay can be reached in 20 minutes. Quarré-les-Tombes is a popular nearby village which is rich in legends with small bars, shops and restaurants. All the amenities of a large town are to be found in Avallon, a historical town 7km away. The apartment is within 10 minutes of junction 22 off the A6 and can be reached by train via TGV (Montbard, 65minutes from Paris) or regional trains through Avallon.
Bed linen, towels, a comprehensive guide to the local area,welcome pack and ample parking are all provided. A fishing licence can also be obtained locally for the grade 1 rivers and lakes, when in season.
