The farm is rural but well sited in the heart of the Loire Valley, 3 km from the nearest town of Allonnes which is good for shopping and access to the motorway, and it is 10 km from Saumur. The larger towns of Angers, Tours and Nantes are within easy reach. Tours has the nearest airport and is three-quarters of an hour away by car.
It makes a splendid place to relax in peace between exploring an area famous for wine, varied countryside, beautiful towns, chateaux and historic sites. There are also lots of places for children to see and enjoy including an excellent zoo at Doue. There is a very good fishing lake 20 minutes away; canoeing in Saumur; also a regular sight-seeing boat trip down the River Loire from Saumur. There is an indoor swimming pool in Allonnes and a pony club for those that wish to ride. There is also the 30 acre farm to explore which is still producing fruit, wheat, hay and there are cows on one of our fields. The gite is a newly renovated 19th century farmhouse with exposed beams and a tuffeau stone fireplace and bread oven. The gite has a washing-up machine, microwave, oven and hob, TV, DVD player, solar-powered water heating, central heating and air-conditioning. There are washing facilities in the laundry room. There is a swimming pool just next to the gite and a playing field for the children.
