Ivy cottage (part of a 17th century longhouse) has retained the original stone fireplace and beamed ceilings and the open plan living areas are well equipped throughout . It is situated in a quiet rural area on the outskirts of a small village (2 kms ) that has a baker, and a Bar / Restaurant, children's play area and riverside nature trail. The town of Gorron just 4 km. away has a tourist office, 3 supermarkets ,several restaurants and banks with cash points.They also have Tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, and the Colmont leisure park with many activities including swing-golf, and a tree-top walk. There is fishing in the river Colmont ,and the Mayenne river plus various nearby lakes (licenses available at the Marie / Tourist office and the Sports Bar in Gorron.) The weekly market is held on Wednesday morning. Horse riding and pony treking centre in the nearby village of St.Denis-de-Gastines (7km)
On the ground floor of the cottage is a well equipped kitchen with full size 4 burner gas cooker, full size fridge and microwave. The Lounge / Diner has a large table & 4 chairs,2 comfortable sofas (2 seater & 3 seater). English SAT TV / video and DVD. There is also a Broadband connection available. Heating is provided by two wall mounted electric thermostatically controlled radiators. During the Low Season we also provide a mobile gas heater for extra heating if required. We have 2 separate bedrooms, one double, one twin, all bedding provided as well as electric blankets / hot water bottles during the colder months. (cot and baby equipment also available), upstairs WC and hand basin, downstairs shower room, WC and basin with electric wall heater and washing machine. Private garden with picnic table at the front (WIFI connection available) and an enclosed decked patio with built in BBQ, and garden furniture at the back. There is also a visitors private secluded garden area with table and chairs and a new Pool (2011) at the back of the cottage, and 1 acre field for games.. We also have 2 x adult and 2 x 8-12 year old“s bikes at your disposal. There is a large graveled off - road car park to the side. We are set in a quiet rural area of Mayenne close to the Normandy / Brittany border, Mayenne town is just 20 minutes away, where you can hire a small boat to cruise the river, or take a trip on the large boat. Both can be found on the quayside by the tourist office. Arrival day is normally Saturday, but alternative days may be possible ouside the high season. A home cooked 3 course dinner can be provided on first day on request, or we can provide a Sunday lunch (English Style roast). Vegetarian option also available. For details see the brochure
