Close to the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean and Spain, Ceret is ideally situated for exploring the diverse cultures, unspoilt countryside and chequered history of the region, whilst the town itself offers a picturesque and charismatic combination of rural charm and intellectual interests - museums, art galleries, folk festivals, excellent restaurants, open-air fiestas, leafy boulevards, pavement cafes, all within walking distance.
The traditionally built two-storey village house is ideally positioned on the edge of Ceret, where the town meets the Albere hills. The back of the house has views of rolling hills in the distance, and the Hermitage of St Ferreol, the local patron saint. To the South, evergreen oaks and chestnut cloak the wild hillsides, and a day’s hiking over the mountains could inadvertently end in Spain!
Inside, the large and sunny farmhouse-style kitchen and dining room is at the front of the house. The modern kitchen is well equipped with fridge, freezer, oven, hob, kettle, toaster, dishwasher etc
The ground floor bathroom, with bath, shower, WC and washbasin, and the small utility area, with washing machine are situated off the kitchen and dining room.
The comfortably furnished living room with English TV is at the back of the house, and the enclosed garden is reached through its French windows. Steps lead down from a small terrace to the patio where there is a BBQ, and garden furniture – ideal for dining al fresco - and beyond is the garden with lawn and colourful flower borders
Upstairs, a central landing leads to four small bedrooms. At the front of the house are two bedrooms; one single and one of which is used as a walk in wardrobe. The other two bedrooms, one double and one twin with bunk beds, are situated at the back of the house; each have French windows, which open onto a large (20m2) “sundeck” terrace furnished with deckchairs and sun loungers.
There are air conditioning units both upstairs and downstairs.
