An oak beamed three bedroom converted farmhouse in a scenic, rural setting.
Kermel is ideal for lovers of traditional comfort, whether families or groups of friends. It sleeps up to six and is perfect for relaxing holidays in peaceful surroundings away from the crowds yet with all amenities close at hand. There is a large, scenic inland lake within ten minutes drive with a safe, sandy beach for swimming, sailing and boat hire with a cafe on the shoreline. The south coast with beautiful beaches is just 40 minutes away on quiet roads.
Built in 1869 with seven rooms, Kermel is renovated to a high standard. The bright, modern kitchen/breakfast room on the ground floor is equipped with electric oven and hob, micro wave, fridge freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. The spacious oak beamed living/dining room has UK staellite TV with DVD player and hi-fi. It is a very comfortable place to relax after a hard days' hiking or dozing on the beach! In the cooler months, the log burning stove set in the traditional stone fireplace creates a warm atmosphere ideal for winter breaks.
Also on the ground floor is a double bunk room with en-suite WC and washbasin. Upstairs are double and twin bedrooms and the bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC. Everywhere is well furnished and pleasantly presented.
Outside there are extensive private gardens and a large lawn with fine views over farmland and forests. There is a barbecue area with outdoor furniture provided for relaxing in warm weather. The cottage is set about 50 metres from a quiet road and it is very safe for children to run around and play. A child security gate is available to prevent access to the staircase and a cot can be provided at a small extra cost. Quilts and pillows are provided and sheets, pillow cases and towels are available again at a small additional charge. The building will be fully cleaned in time for your visit and our English speaking neighbour will be on hand to give you the keys and show you around.
Kermel is about a kilometre from the pretty village of Ploerdut with food shops, restaurant, cafe, bars, post office, medical facilities and church. Walking, cycling, horse riding and golf are popular activities close by. The nearest town is Guemene sur Scorff. It has a supermarket with cheaper petrol, banks, plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and a cinema showing English and French films. Further afield is the city of Pontivy with all amenities including a fine open air swimming pool.
With electric heating throughout, the cottage is available all year round. It represents good value for money, especially in the winter months and off-season. Substantial discounts are available for longer lets out of season. Brittany itself is full of attractive historical sites and many are close at hand. Breton culture remains strong and fans of Celtic music, dance and folk lore will find much to discover in the summer months. The sun shines for 2200 hours a year and even in winter, a sunny day is never far away.
