This is a newly renovated house in a scenic medieval village. It is equipped to make your holiday as pleasurable as possible and the location provides you with great opportunities to be active or just sit and enjoy. It is four minutes walk to the boulangerie, cafes, mini market and shops.

The village is one of the Un des plus beaux villages de France and has village fleurie status. Built on high ground, encircled by the river Mere, which previously served as a moat; it is steeped in a thousand years of history, as the rampart walls, famous church and Melusine’s tower testify.
The winding streets with their old stone houses have an atmosphere that has inspired artists, many of whom have galleries and workshops that welcome visitors .
During the summer months the village hosts traditional markets, folk festivals and musical performances.
Local activities include, walking and cycling (waymarked paths and VTT tracks go by the house), horse riding, tennis and fishing. Five minutes drive will take you to the heart of the Mervent-Vouvant forest with its picnic areas, opportunities for sailing and canoeing, play park and Natur Zoo. Further afield there is the Marais Poitevin (green Venice), Puy du Fou theme park, the warm white Vendee beaches, Ile de Ré and La Rochelle. There is so much to see and do.
The house has an open plan sitting/dining area with comfortable sofas and a large table and chairs. There is a CD and DVD player as well as wi-fi access. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is well equipped.
The large main bedroom has a king size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, with mirror. A hair dryer is provided.
The second bedroom has two three foot beds, large inbuilt wardrobe and two chests of drawers. From this bedroom window there is a wonderful view of the church tower lit up at night, enhanced by stunning sunsets.
Upstairs is a new shower room which has a shower, toilet and wash basin. Downstairs is a bathroom which has a bath with shower over, a separate shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet.
The kitchen opens onto a sunny, sheltered courtyard which in the summer months is an outdoor living space. Its walls covered in wisteria, jasmine and a very prolific grape vine provide a restful space to enjoy meals outside.
Table and chairs, parasol and BBQ are provided.
The garden is on three levels, accessed by steps (no handrails), the mezzanine has a gravelled sitting area looking across to the field opposite, the next level is grassed with beds of shrubs and the top level has wonderful views of the village and church particularly at night when they are lit. Trees including a cherry and a walnut are dotted around and there are grape and kiwi vines growing along the fence line.
You can park your car in the garage or outside the front door.
In winter heating is provided by a wood burning stove and electric convector heaters in every room.
