Enchanting 16th century tower with PRIVATE POOL and huge secluded garden
Just outside a charming hamlet, our fairytale home enjoys total privacy and stunning views; perfect for honeymoons. The garden is nearly 2 acres with a mixture of wild flower meadows, shaded areas of trees for eating out or reading, a terrace around the tower, and a poolside terrace. The tower is just outside St Mayme and 10 minutes stroll from the nearest bar/restaurant. It is 40 minutes' drive from Bergerac airport and halfway between Bergerac and Perigueux, both of which have excellent markets. It is 5 mins drive from Vergt (excellent shops, great weekly market & strawberry capital of Perigord), and close to all the usual delights of the Dordogne.
Our ancient tower has been restored throughout by artist craftsmen, and because it is also our own holiday retreat, has many beautiful features not usually present in a gite. Electricity & all linen (sheets, towels etc) is included in the cost. the tower is tiny but exquisite!
Ground Floor: well-equipped kitchen/dining room with original stone fireplace, carved stone bench and wood-burning stove.
1st floor: luxury marble bathroom with bath, shower, and separate WC. Hair dryer included.
2nd floor: double bedroom with stunning views, wash hand basin & bidet. Wardrobe and drawer space is limited but adequate (who needs clothes anyway?).
Attic: 1 double futon sofa/bed + 1 single futon sofa/bed. TV + DVD. This room serves as a tiny sitting room under the pointy roof. However some people choose to use it as an extra bedroom. See our website for more details.
Electric Central heating and wood burning stove. Choice of BBQs. Washing machine under the pool. Generous private 10 x 5 no-chlorine pool. No children under 10 years. No dogs.
