Idyllic riverside cottage, Private river bathing sleeps 6

The property consists of a modern detatched house set in idyllic surroundings in secluded grounds with a garden running down to the river Tarn, with fishing and safe swimming. It is within a conservation area with rare birds. It is on the north bank of the river Tarn about 10 miles east of Albi with it's magnificent cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum. It is within easy reach of Cordes, Toulouse and Carcassone and other medieval towns and villages with restaurants and markets. For the energetic, riding, tennis and golf are available locally.

The house is about 1000 km from Calais and about 800 km from Caen/Ouistreham. For those who wish to fly and hire a car, the house is just over an hour's drive from Toulouse or Rodez airports.

The accomodation consists of three twin bedrooms and a spacious living/dining room.The living room has an open fire and is comfortably furnished with armchairs and a sofa. There are two bathrooms with showers. The water is heated by gas. There is a modern well equipped kitchen with a gas hob and electric oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a slow cooker, a Kenwood mixer, an electric toaster and a pressure cooker. A cot and high chair are available. The house is centrally heated by electric oil filled radiators.

Outside, there is a terrace and garden with an exceptionally beautiful view of the river only 100 metres away. Both terrace and garden are equipped with tables , chairs and sun umbrellas. Sun loungers are also provided. There is a built in barbecue. There is both sun and shade in the garden. The river below the house is slow flowing and suitable for swimming. A rowing boat and canoes are available by arrangement for the use of guests. Pets are welcome.

The cottage is situated about 1 km south of the hamlet of Longouyrou, the first house on the right between the road and the river.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of local life is the regular market, held weekly in many of the towns and villages of the region. In our opinon the best are at Realmont 30 miles away every Wednesday and Carmaux 20 miles away every Friday. Of the smaller ones St Juery 8 miles away every Thursday is by far the best.
