Two bedroomed stable conversion at the Bastide des Launes
Bastide des Launes is a charming 400 year old country house set in its own courtyard via its own drive, with spectacular views, renovated to a luxurious standard, with 50m swimming pool. Situated in the scenic Provencal countryside on the edge of the picturesque village of Chamaret.
The Stable Gite sleeps two to four people in 2 double bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has a king size bed which can convert to two 90cm singles,The bedrooms are accessed from the lounge area by "space saver" stairs. If the second bedroom is not required then the cost of the gite rental is reduced by £100 per week (£50 low season).
The Stable Gite has an open plan lounge with a kitchen area. The lounge has a CD player, TV (British satellite reception) and DVD player. It also has its own private garden with its own eating area, outside table, chairs and parasol, BBQ and "day bed" to while away the hours reading or just taking in the spectacular views.
The Stable Gite comes complete with a full kitchen including fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, gas oven and hobs. All cutlery, crockery, glassware, bedding and towels (both pool and house) are provided.
The Stable Gite has access to two washing machines in the communal utility room, plus iron and ironing board. There is large clothesline around the back of the house. Table tennis, table football and bicycles are available. Children's beds/cots/highchair are also available. Intenet access available by WiFi and LAN.
The local village is just a 3 minute stroll away and there you will find the "Tour de Chamaret" a medieval watch tower built to warn the fortified "Chateau de Grignan" of unwelcome guests. Nowadays the village is more accommodating to visitors and boasts a bar, fruit & vegetable stall, baker and post office.
In the local area the stunning Chateau de Grignan dominates the view, with its narrow streets, high walls and monastery, all of which are open to the public. Gringan has a lively artistic colony with many galleries and workshops in its narrow twisting lanes. The Roman amphitheatre in the town of Orange and the famous "Pont d' Avignon" are all within an hour’s drive of the Bastide des Launes.
We are in the middle of the Rhone wine area, and some of France's finest vineyards are within easy reach including Hermitage, Chateauneuf-du-Pape,Vacqueras.
Enjoy your holiday by visiting some of the weekly markets, potteries and art galleries and, during the summer, various open-air festivals. Avignon and Carpentras both have festivals for most of July. Go riding at the local stables, borrow our bicyles to explore the small local villages and countryside, play golf at 2 nearby courses, watch the wildlife in the local woods/river, or you could just laze by the side of our large swimming pool. The area is also excellent for walking, although this is more an activity that suits the weather in April/May or September/October.
