The house is on three floors and accommodates up to 10 people.
The ground floor entrance leads into the hallway with hand made stairs up to the first floor. Large double/twin bedroom and en-suite bathroom with bath, walk-in shower and double sink. Double doors lead from the bedroom to a terrace area in front of the house. There is also a laundry room on this floor.
On the first floor the large open plan living/dining room has a fully fitted kitchen and is full of character, furnished with leather sofas and arm chair, large dining table seating 8-10, satellite TV and DVD. The original fireplace has a wood-burning stove, ideal for spring and autumn evenings. One door leads from the living area out onto the pool terrace, while the rear door leads down to the back garden. On this level there is also a double bedroom with en suite shower room.
The handmade staircase leads to the attic floor where there are two spacious bedrooms, one double with 160 bed and one with twin beds and ample space for an additional bed or cot if necessary. These two bedrooms share a shower room and toilet.
The house is surrounded by garden and walnut orchards (Les Noyers!) and the large 10 x 5 metre pool with roman end is situated to the front of the house surrounded by a large terrace. There are plenty of sun loungers, barbecue, badminton net and lovely poolside flower garden.
The house is situated just 3km from Meyssac where you will find restaurants, shops and twice weekly market.
A mere 15 minute drive takes you to villages, chateaux, caves and of course the Dordogne River. To the west is Collonges-la Rouge, the "city of little castles", and Turenne, a 15th century village whose high pitched roofs surround two castles from which the foothills of the Massif Central can be seen. To the south and east is the Dordogne valley, with a wealth of villages such as Loubressac, Autoire, Carennac and Martel. The Chateaux of Castelnau, Belcastel and Montal are all close by, while the citadel of Rocamadour is only 30 minutes drive away. For those wishing to explore a little further afield, the world famous Lascaux caves can be reached in an hour, the lovely market town of Sarlat, while the Cahors and Bordeaux wine regions are also within easy reach.
More active pursuits include horse riding, canoeing down the Dordogne River, tennis, cycling (we have several bikes for hire and also organise half and full day cycling itineraries), walking, three nearby golf courses, and hot-air ballooning trips. For children there is an 'acrobranche' park, water parks, the 'foret de singes' and 'parc animalier', not forgetting the steam train running along the banks of the Dordogne in the summer months.
For many the main attraction of the region are the rolling hills, peace and quiet, and local gastronomic specialities such as foie gras, truffles, walnuts, confit de canard and cabecou cheese. Local wine from the nearby vineyard of Branceilles, and the aperitif wines "Vin de Paille" and "Vin de
